Window Treatment Dilemma

Hi Everyone,

I'm in such turmoil over the absent window treatments in our master bedroom. We have beautiful Pella windows that look out into our backyard, and the side of our house. We bought the house last summer, and moved in around July. I've been debating since we moved in what to do with these big beautiful windows. I'm not crazy about the idea of blinds, even though my husband loves them. I thought maybe I would put window shades, but there is a retractable screen that gets in the way of mounting them properly. I'm not totally against blinds of any kind, but I just don't want to obstruct the view to our backyard. I saw on another blog (sorry can't remember which one) where the lady showed off her magnificent master bedroom. She has blinds and panels. The panels hang from the mouling at the top, all the way to the floor, and she placed decorative plates in the empty space... I absolutely love this idea. Not sure what to do... We also have a problem, that our house faces the south, and the sun comes up very early, and shines in our faces, telling us it's time to rise and shine, even if we aren't ready..LOL. So any advice you all could give would be greatly appreciated. I would love someone else's input for my next big project. Thanks for any help !!!Kelli

So Hot and Humid in the South...

Well I took these pics of some pots I have on my front porch. I got the pots from Sam's Club, and they are sort of bronzed, but you can hardly see them, for all of the cascading flowers. When I bought plants to go in these pots, I had no idea how beautiful they would turn out to be. Of course, caladiums always do well, but this year I tried something different. I bought some of those double bloom petunias (which are not a fan of the sun, i learned this the hard way), they've done exceptionally well, i also added something called mmmm...having a senior moment, can't remember them, and i just stuck, and yes i literally "stuck" the lime green sweet potato vine in these pots, and it took off. Anyhow, these pics were taken yesterday before i watered them, i planned to show some pics after watering today when i got home, and they look terrible. Will try to post pics later!! Kelli

New Recipe A new twist on an old favorite

This is a twist on a recipe that my mom has always made. We call them chicken roll-ups. It's basically chicken, mixed with cream of celery soup, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, a little milk, all mixed up, rolled into pillsbury crescent rolls, and baked in the oven for about 30 min. Well, as you can see, there's no chicken in this recipe. I derived this idea
from a favorite recipe I found in
Southern Living Magazine a
few years ago. It's call King
Ranch Chicken. Anyway, the
recipe is as follows:

1 lb. ground chuck
1 sm. bell pepper
1 sm. sweet onion
sharp shredded cheddar cheese
1 can rotel tomatoes
1 can cream of celery soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 or 2 cans Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
(depending on how many
appetites you have to feed)
First , coarsly chop bell pepper and onion, saute in pan with a little butter, add ground chuck, cook thouroughly, at the end, add can of rotel tomatoes (juice and all). Drain meat, then prepare can of celery soup, can of chicken soup, however much cheese you like, mix together, with meat, this makes the filling.Fill each crescent roll with filling, roll up, and bake for at 350 for 30 min. I alo sprinkle a little cheese on top.. Comes out golden and bubbly! Enjoy!!!

Gardening is one of my favorite hobbies. Container gardening is about the only thing I have time for. This a pot I just put together with stuff I found at our local co-op. I've managed to keep it watered, and it's prospered pretty well. I have one of each on each side of my garage. They get plenty of sun out there. I love the trailing vinca, it's hard to find around here.

New to Blogging

Ok...I'm new to blogging. My mom has had a blog for a few months now, and she seems to be really enjoying it. I usually check her blog every day now, and I'm enjoying it more and more. I probably won't have the time to commit to it like she does. My name is Kelli. I'm 33 years old, and have been happily married for almost 10 years(in October). We have two beautiful boys. Connor, 5, and Cooper,9 months. You've probably seen their pictures posted on my mom's blog...A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words. I could use any help or advice on blogging. Hope you all have a great weekend!!!
