A few of my new favorite Christmas things....

Some of my NEW favorite things....the first picture is some picture frames that I put scrapbook paper in. I have yet to get my husband up in the attic to get out my 9 million boxes of Christmas things...so I will dress them up later. The second is some cheap, tins that I got for 75% off at the dollar store back during the summer. I decided to go crazy with the scrapbook paper again and cover the tins, and spell out PEACE, JOY, NOEL. I don't know if I'll leave them on my mantel, but for right now, that's where they'll stay. The last is a beautiful platter that I found at the giftshop in the hospital that I work in. I love the boldness of it's colors, and also all the words around the edges, referring to the birth of Jesus. Isn't it beautiful? I have many many favorite things, but these are some that are new to my collection this year. For more favorite Christmas things, visit Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick. Have a great day!!

Addicted to CSI:Miami

I am so totally addicted to this show. My husband and I sat down to watch it the other night when one of our regualr programs was rerunning. I've since DVR'd it whenever I think about it. There's a CSI: Miami marathon on the A&E channel , and lasts all day until 9pm tonight. If you've never watched it, give it a try, it's totally addicting!!

Trash to Treasure: Vintage Chair

Well, I don't know about ya'll but I think this is a nifty vintage chair. It has been in my garage since August, because no one bought it from our garage sale that we had. It belonged to Chad's mom. I'm not really sure where she got it, and I remember commenting on it one day when I went over to her house. She brought it over for the garage sale, but it didn't sale. So, needless to say, it's been taking up space in our garage. One day on a whim, I decided to bring that vintage chair inside, for some extra seating. I think with some pillows I could really spruce it up a bit. It's a really comfortable chair. One day I would love t o recover it, but not sure that's a project I can handle right now. LOL. Happy Trash to Treasure Tuesday ! You can find more trash to treasure finds on my mom's blog: A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words.

It's Winter Time in the South

It's winter time here down South where we live. I know it hasn't really turned cold yet, but to me, when the temperatures drop into the 30's at night, it's cold. My husband has come home from work nearly every day to build us a cozy fire to snuggle up to at night,(when we finally get a chance to maybe watch the 10:00 news,LOL). I'm not a big fan of the winter months, but the look and feel, and yes, even the smell of a wood burning fire gives me something to look foward to at night. One night last year, my husband even took our mattress off our bed, and put it in front of the fireplace, so we could sleep there that night... Isn't he the sweetest? I'm lucky, and that probably won't be the last time you hear me say that. Here's a couple of pictures that he took of our fire the other night. The wood he cut up this year, has a distinct crackling, popping noise, and we love it!! Our fireplace does bring a bit of should I say history/trouble in our home. We had an incident last year on Christmas Day. If you would like to read about it, click here.

Trash to Treasure Tuesday

Trash to Treasure Tuesday is hosted by Diane at A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words
My Trash to Treasure items are some very old ledger books. These books date back to the late 1800's to early 1900's. My brother found them in an old building downtown, and thought they might look good in my house. He was right. How long do you think these ledger books sat there collecting dust? They are huge, and extremely heavy. It's hard to believe they had to hand write every single transaction that took place. They are beautiful, and I will treasure them forever.

Purses, Purses, & More Purses...

I don't know about you, but I have an obsession with handbags. It hasn't always been so. My husbands mom Vikki from Magnolia Memories, is the true purse coniseiur. She has the true obsession, and has since converted me into loving them as much as she does. We switch and swap purses more often than most women gossip. That's alot my friends. So, if you love handbags as much as we do, let us know which one is your favorite. My husband bought me this Coach bag a couple of years ago. It was a total surprise. We were in the middle of moving out of our house we had sold, trying to move out ASAP for our new homebuyers, and he came home with this beautiful bag for me! Isn't he the greatest? I'm a lucky girl...
I want to show ya'll just how much I love purses. I took some pictures of the top of my closet ( please don't judge me on the messiness.. it's the one thing in my house that i just don't care what it looks like). I have to store all of them on the top shelves, and it takes up most of my storage space. I wonder though, if I didn't have all these purses, what would I put up there? I'm taking 4 of them to my friend Heather from work. She wants a new purse, but doesn't really care anything about spending the money on them. (which is probably how most normal people feel about them). I told her I'd bring her some to try out, but it didn't make much more space in my closet. LOL. Anyone else obsessed with purses as much as I am?

Just Because He Loves Me

My husband brought home beautiful roses for me last Friday, just because... He also picked out a sweet card to go with them, and wrote such a sweet, personal note. So, I just want to thank him for all that he does for me. He's such a wonderful husband and father. I love you!

Cooper's First Birthday Party

We finally got around to having Cooper's 1st real birthday party on Saturday. His actual birthday is October 16, but we had to have it later since our trip to Disney. As you can see, I don't know how to change the order of my pictures, so the first of Cooper is him about to have a "sink" bath after the demolition of his cake. We decided to do a Mickey Mouse theme since we just came back from Disney World. (They also have really cute plates/party accessories for Mickey @ Wal-Mart LOL)! He dug into his cake almost immediately, and as you can see, he really liked it. He cried when we took it away...poor baby. We didn't want him to have a tummy ache. That's how we spent our Saturday. What did you do? Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
