I know several of you moms out there know what I have been feeling with my baby starting school. It's such a bittersweet time, when you want them to be your baby forever, but you know that they have to grow up too, because that's part of life. I actually did not shed any tears after leaving him in his classroom. My tears were shed after kissing him good night the night before. He was so happy and excited to be going to "big school". I am happy for him, but it seems like just yesterday that I was holding him in my arms after he came into my life, and changing it forever. I love him so much, I hope he knows. His teacher said this morning, "look how many people here love you", and I thought it was so sweet. I know she will love him as she gets to know him better throughout the coming school year...His personality is just one of his many traits that people love about him. When I picked him up from school, he was visibly tired. I ask him how his day was, he nodded and said fine, (all while sucking his thumb, and holding brown bear), I ask him what he ate for lunch, and I can't remember what I ask him next, but he said to me, "Mama I don't feel like talking about it right now, i'll talk to you about it in the morning". I laughed and simply said ok. Well, later on this evening, I tried to talk to him again about it. I ask him to tell me one thing about his day. He looked at me, and said "we colored". I said, well, I know that Connor, you were coloring when I left you today". He said, "mama, you said to tell you one thing, and I did". I just left it at that. LOL. He is hilarious!! Hope you all can relate to this post. Have a great day! Kelli

I know Connor will win over his teacher's heart just like he has won over all of ours!
He will probably start talking about school when you least expect it...and probably when you have a million other things to do!
I'm so glad that I had the chance to be with you all this morning and glad we had the chance to shop together. It kept me from missing him quite as much.
He can't be a baby forever...how well I know.
Love ya,
Mama
Kelli, it has been a long time but I can relate to the first day of school for all five of mine. Connor is adorable, who wouldn't love that little guy? Your photos are great. I never thought of a photo when mine went to their first day of school. I wish I did.
Take care, Jeanne
Hi! Just popping over from Diane's blog. My son, Monkey, will be going to kindergarten too, and I blogged about it yesterday. Your boys are adorable!
I read about Connor's first day on your mom's blog. I told her that even though I teach kindergarten when I sent my son to kindergarten on the first day (and I could see his classroom from my door) I still got a weepy!
All kids say they did nothing when you ask them about school LOL! I always send home a note on the first day that says what we did.
I hope Conner has a wonderful happy year!
take care,
Dawn
You brought tears to my eyes. I'm so sentimental. Motherhood is sweet, savor every moment. Thanks for sharing such a special day.
What a special day. Once he has thought about everything I bet he won't be able to quit telling you about all the fun stuff in Kindergarten. I still remember when Lexi entered school for the first time...they think they are so grown up getting to wear a backpack and all. Now she will be going into 4th grade...hard to believe and goes by so quickly.
Your blog is so nice. I love your theme of promoting motherhood, with all its trials and tribulations, and it is wonderful to see your love of your cute children expressed in your photos.
Good job.

Awww, Kelli ... what a sweet post about Connor's first day at kindergarten.
I know that broke your heart to see him sucking his thumb and holding his little bear. Sometimes they seem so "big," then they do something like that and you realize just how little they are.
He's so cute and seems like such a well-adjusted outgoing little boy and I'm sure he will love school when he gets "settled in." He'll probably come home just about to pop to tell you all about his day.
Give him a hug for me ...
Sincerely,
Janie
Hi Kelli! This is so sweet! Typical guy doesn't want to talk about his day til he's relaxed!!!! The bus dropped my daughter at the wrong school even with all their "precautions". They wanted the kids to ride right from the start. I was none too happy!! I had been driving her to her school prior to starting so she would recognize it; she knew when they told her to get off it wasn't "right". She found a teacher and they put her on another bus immediately! You guys start school really early!
Best wishes to Connor for a great year with lots of new friends! Sincerely, Jeannette
Oh yes, we're relating here. Next week I send my youngest to Kindergarten and I'm so sad. When my first went to K I followed her bus to school the entire first week and then spied on her on the playground to make sure she knew how to get to her classroom. Crazy Mamas!
